An Assortment of {Tin}

Kind of a random post. .
but since Jason & I moved into our house we've gone through 6 different sets of canisters {I told you . . random} We're still making the transition in our kitchen from this terrible green we picked out back to white. {fresh start} I hate the canisters we currently have & while I was sitting in the kitchen this morning having my coffee I noticed the tins I have in my corner cabinet & realized how much I like them. Then I decided I'm just going to buy a random array of tins . . and use them as my canisters. I'm just really over having "matching sets" of anything. So yes that was the big dilemma I solved this morning.
Then I hopped on Etsy and started searching & here are a few of my favorites.

I somehow managed to find these which match a set I already have. Yup, I bought them. I know I said I don't like matching sets BUT the fact that they're all different shapes & sizes still gives me the satisfaction that they're totally different.

{Colorful} Desert

There's certainly nothing barren about this photoshoot. The sand acts as a perfect background to show off this season's brilliant patterns ! {love the use of the camel}

Unknown Artists

Before the weather broke (well. . sort of) and my only option of exercising was on the treadmill, I made it a point to watch all the movies/documentaries/shows that Jason wouldn't necessarily be too thrilled to watch {I can only take advantage of his inability to say no so many times}. One of my favorites, I'd have to say, was Valentino:The Last Emperor.
Yes, he was an amazing artist and had a fantastic eye for beauty, but what I really get into when it comes to a designer; who is their seamstress? I am completely amazed by peoples ability when they can sew. . . I mean really sew; by hand is even better. Which is how Valentino is run. Completely by hand. I wish they showed more of the women who worked there and created these amazing dresses. It just fascinates me {which is why when at Matthew Williamson, any chance I had to be in the basement where the sewing floor was_that's where I was}

Why didn't I listen to my mom and become a seamstress? What a dying art; and the women who are capable; make.bank.

::it's never too late though, right?:

{Tufted} Love

i really like the idea of buying this brown leather tufted couch and changing the cushions to some big plush comfortable fabric ones.

Once again . .. I need a lot more rooms to fill it with all the furniture I love. For now .. I can enjoy the pictures.

{Shabby Chic} With Your Personal Touch

I am just completely obsessed with "shabby chic" & of course when you think of shabby chic.. you think of Rachel Ashwell. She has the most fantastic decorated homes.

'Shabby Chic ' calls for decorating one’s home with gently worn antique furnishings--or new tables, chairs, sofas, beds, bureaus, rugs, lamps, and other items reconstructed. I love finding items almost anywhere; in good or bad condition. The fun part is trying to picture them in that spot in your house, re-done just the way you want them. I love a house that feels lived in & something about the house being mis-matched but actually matching is what makes it feel like a home. I guess you can say I love the idea of "Shabby Chic" but done in our own style.
Once Jason and I remodeled our house for the first time, we decided instead of going out immediately to decorate and furnish our home.. we would do it slowly and eventually our house will be filled with our findings throughout the year. With a few exceptions of course_you can't really having a living room without immediately purchasing a couch... which I hate ... and we're working towards a new one.

I'm pretty sure I can get away with small accents of ruffles around the house without making it too girly_maybe in a way Jason will hardly even notice :) The bedskirt for sure... but this table linen. . not too sure but I do love this.
This color green around the doors is exactly what we had in mind. . it only took us three times before we got the color right.

I have some kind of fascination with vintage linens/throws . . anything lace, distressed .. & I guess you can say "old lady". I love fabrics.

So it seems lately, that Jason & I really love the "no cabinet" look_just straight up open shelves to hold dishes. Which could be easily done, but I'm almost positive our families would KILL us if we did this anytime soon. I mean . . we would only have to get rid of three cabinets... ? hah but yeah we know not yet. Ugh all these plans that I want to do right now.
We already have the farmhouse sink down . . so we're partially there. I've been on the hunt for new kitchen chairs actually. I really want either old mis-matched or distressed chairs that will go with our distressed kitchen table.

Pure {White} Vintage

In the spirit of our big snow storm {which I'm extremely happy about} There's nothing like a a lot of fresh snow in a small town. There's also nothing like a crisp white dress or a piece of furniture in your house. You can't go wrong with white.

what a great color.

{London}

Tourists.

Camden Markets_one of my favorite places there. Rows & rows of vendors selling pretty much anything you can imagine. Part of the markets are held in old horse stalls.

One of the gates leading into Green Park_on our way to Buckingham Palace.

Leading into Sheperd Market_the area where I interned. Such a quaint place_but extremely expensive to live. The "townhouse" where Matthew Williamson is, is a $6 million building.
Matthew Williamson store on Bruton Street.
& there's the headquarters.
Old/New Bond Street & Oxford Street. We were lucky it was still decorated from the holidays.
SOHO
Here's the back of Liberty {amazing ... yet expensive shopping} There's a line at Target that this is based around.
It would be amazing to have a show room & do something wild like this.
Kingly Court in SOHO

I fell in love.
